Rizhao port in Shandong province has won approval to build a LNG berth to optimise its liquified natural gas transportation services.
The new 150,000 tonnes-class LNG berth and supporting terminal facilities located at north operation area of Lanshan port area, which has space reserved for another LNG berth. Construction of the new berth will accelerate Rizhao port’ s development to be a regional energy hub in north China and support Shandong province to improve coastal LNG storage and transportation system.
Jointly approved by Ministry of Transport and Shandong provincial government, Rizhao port will be developed as a hub port for coal, iron ore, crude oil and container transportation. It will totally construct seven operation areas with 274 productive berths.
Last year, cargo throughput at Rizhao port exceeded 500m tons, which also became one of the top ten container handling ports domestically.
